For 2010 Christmas, I used this recipe. Everyone noticed that the green beans tasted better than they did in other concoctions. I suspect it was because they were fresh and boiled in chicken broth. This helps to explain the high ratings this recipe has on the Food Network. I used salt and fresh ground pepper, but when I see garlic powder in a recipe, the Italian in me replaces it with lots of fresh garlic. I sliced over a dozen cloves of garlic, which isn't a lot when you consider that I tripled the portions of the recipe. When you bit into large piece of garlic, it clearly lost its zing, indicating that it successfully seeped into the dish just as you would hope. I'm sure the cream of mushroom soup helped that process.
